The Curious "Asbury" Card

As you probably know, Asbury Park was a very demure resort a hundred years ago. Even at a time when bathing suits in general were rather concealing, Asbury park had its own, even more modest, regulation suit.

So how to explain this risqué postcard?

The card is definitely of the generic variety. The name of any resort could be placed on the front. It is highly doubtful that Asbury Park would have offered such an item. In fact, it probably was not intended for any American resort (these cards were naughty European specialties). I think that it may very well be a prank concocted by a single individual (no, it wasn't me). The letters seem to be painted on in watercolor or done with a pen.

Sneaking over from Bradley Beach?
